Television Director and Producer

Paul Miller, a member of the W.C. Mepham High School Class of 1967, is an accomplished television director and producer with a distinguished career in entertainment and live television production.

Over several decades in the industry, Mr. Miller has directed and produced a wide range of major television programs, comedy specials, and live events. Early in his career, he served as a director for Saturday Night Live in the late 1980s, helping shape one of television’s most influential comedy programs. He has also directed for notable television series including **MADtv, ALF, and In Living Color.

In addition to scripted television, Miller has directed numerous live broadcasts and entertainment specials, including major award and tribute programs. His work has been recognized with industry honors, including an Emmy Award for directing the 1998 Tony Awards broadcast.

More recently, he received the 2024 Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Specials for directing the television special Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love, celebrating the legendary comedian’s career.

Now based in California, Miller continues to contribute to the television industry while supporting the next generation of storytellers. In 2026, he established a $3,000 scholarship through the Mepham Alumni Association to support a graduating senior pursuing a degree in television or film, helping encourage students who share his passion for media and storytelling.
