In Memory of Mark Mobius (1936–2026)

The W.C. Mepham High School Alumni Association is deeply saddened to share the passing of alumnus Mark Mobius, who passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 89.

A proud graduate of Mepham, Mr. Mobius maintained a meaningful and lasting connection to his alma mater. He was a dedicated supporter of Mepham students, providing substantial scholarships that directly impacted the lives and futures of graduating seniors. His generosity was not only financial—it was personal.

Those who had the privilege of meeting him at last year’s Senior Awards program will remember his warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in the students he supported. He took the time to connect, to encourage, and to celebrate their accomplishments, leaving a lasting impression on all in attendance.

Mr. Mobius believed in the promise of Mepham students and in the importance of giving back. His legacy will live on through the many young people whose educational journeys he helped shape.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. The Mepham community is grateful for his generosity, his spirit, and his enduring commitment to his alma mater.

Touch Wall Installation Update

The Mepham Athletic Hall of Fame Touch Wall has officially been installed—a meaningful step toward preserving and celebrating our shared history. While it is not yet operational, this interactive display will soon bring Mepham’s legacy to life, showcasing Athletic Hall of Fame inductees and digitized yearbooks for generations to explore.

Thanks to the generosity of our alumni community, including a $5,000 contribution from the Alumni Association, this project is well underway. We are continuing to raise funds to support the digitization of Mepham’s yearbooks—an essential part of making the Touch Wall a rich and complete experience.

Honoring Mepham Educators

There are moments when a school community pauses—not for an event or a game—but to recognize the people who quietly shape lives every single day. This is one of those moments.

Five educators from the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District have been honored by the Harvard Club of Long Island—a distinction that comes not from administrators or rankings, but from students themselves. Each year, Harvard undergraduates nominate the teachers who made a lasting impact on their lives: those who inspired curiosity, set high expectations, and truly cared.

Among this year’s honorees are four from Wellington C. Mepham High School:
Anthony Brandofino, Dr. David Kommor, Madeline LoMonaco, and Neeru Partap.

This recognition speaks to something deeper than academic success. It reflects the kind of teaching that stays with students long after graduation—the kind that shapes confidence, curiosity, and direction. These are the educators who make Mepham what it is: not just a school, but a place where students are seen, challenged, and inspired.

For alumni especially, this honor feels familiar. We can all point to a teacher who made a difference, who pushed us a little further, or believed in us a little earlier than we believed in ourselves. That legacy continues today in classrooms across Mepham.

Paul Miller '67

Television Director and Producer

Paul Miller, a member of the W.C. Mepham High School Class of 1967, is an accomplished television director and producer with a distinguished career in entertainment and live television production.

Over several decades in the industry, Mr. Miller has directed and produced a wide range of major television programs, comedy specials, and live events. Early in his career, he served as a director for Saturday Night Live in the late 1980s, helping shape one of television’s most influential comedy programs. He has also directed for notable television series including **MADtv, ALF, and In Living Color.

In addition to scripted television, Miller has directed numerous live broadcasts and entertainment specials, including major award and tribute programs. His work has been recognized with industry honors, including an Emmy Award for directing the 1998 Tony Awards broadcast.

More recently, he received the 2024 Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Specials for directing the television special Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love, celebrating the legendary comedian’s career.

Now based in California, Miller continues to contribute to the television industry while supporting the next generation of storytellers. In 2026, he established a $3,000 scholarship through the Mepham Alumni Association to support a graduating senior pursuing a degree in television or film, helping encourage students who share his passion for media and storytelling.
